Work From Home

In today’s post I would like to take a look at a few of the ways that people can make money online.

Surveys

There are quite a few online survey sites in which people can use to make money online and here is a list of a few.

  1. Swagbucks
  2. Toluna
  3. MySurvey
  4. OnePoll
  5. Panel Opinion
  6. i-Say (IPSOS)
  7. Pinecone Research
  8. YouGov
  9. Survey Bods
  10. Prolific Academic
  11. Global Test Market
  12. The OpinionPanel Community

These are just a few of the possible survey options available online, either with your mobile device or on your computer. They all have different payouts and you would have to familiarize yourself with them in order to find the best fit for you. I tried doing surveys and had minimal returns, but that is not to say that it cannot be done. Not everything is for everyone and some people will excel at things that someone else might not.

Freelance WriterCreate

If you have a creative mind and are good with words, then perhaps you could become a freelance writer. There are different things you can write about and ways to go about becoming a freelance writer.

  1. You can be a niche writer and only write about a particular niche
  2. You can become a blogger and build a following and earn money that way
  3. You could become a journalist if you have a knack for the news
  4. You could focus more on copyrighting if you are good with marketing
  5. If you find that you are a more technical writer, you could do instructional or manual writing

As you can see, there are a lot of ways that you could become a freelance writer and earn money online that way.

I personally do enjoy writing, but I enjoy blogging like this over any other form of writing.Anywhere

Data Entry

If you are good on a computer and have an eye for detail, then you might want to think about data entry as a way to make money online. At almost any given day you can search for data entry jobs and find several and apply online.

There are things to be aware of when considering a data entry job.

  • Finding an honest genuine company
  • Achieving accuracy
  • Finding a good support system/lack of support
  • How payments are processed
  • It can be very tiresome to sit for hours and enter data accurately

Make sure you are aware of what you are getting into and that it pays what you want and how you want it.

I don’t know that I have the right personality for data entry, but who knows, maybe one day huh?

Voice-Over Work

There are numerous ways to begin to get into the voice over business. If you have what it takes to do voice-over work, you need to get your voice out there so potential customers can hear you.

One way to do this is to make YouTube videos with your voice, using different accents and styles.

You can also be represented by an agency to begin doing voice-over work.

There are several websites to go to in order to become established to do voice-over work.

  1. Voices.com
  2. Voice Bunny
  3. Backstage
  4. Fiverr

These are just the beginning of what is currently available out there now to begin to do voice-over work.

I have yet to try voice over but I am set up for it if I ever want to. I have a decent system and a good mic, plus I have been told that I have a good voice for it.

Affiliate Marketing

The definition for affiliate marking is as follows:

A way for a company to sell its products by signing up individuals or companies (“affiliates”) who market the company’s products for a commission. There are two ways to approach affiliate marketing: You can offer an affiliate program to others or you can sign up to be another business’s affiliate.

So, basically, if you want to do affiliate marketing, you will be working off of commission. It is nice because you can set up a site and generate passive income after you have it up and going. Almost everyone has an affiliate program nowadays.  Walmart, Amazon, Wealthy Affiliate, too many to really list.

I have begun to dabble in affiliate marketing and I am learning more and more each day, it is easy once you find the correct platform.

Learning A New Job

I mentioned affiliate marketing because I have some experience with that. Wealthy Affiliate is a training platform where you can learn to market whatever it is that you are trying to online. There are so many things to learn and ways to go about it, it is virtually impossible to try to cover it all without being a part of a training platform.

It really is being trained to do a new job. Just that the boss is you and not someone else. I have been a part of Wealthy Affiliate for some time now and I recommend it to anyone who has the desire to have a home-based, online business. I am teaching financial freedom and trying to help others learn to be freer than they imagined they could be.

  1. Finding a work from home program  that works is easier said than done.

I don’t think doing online surveys is the way forward as the rewards are minute. I have found affiliate marketing a beneficial online business and noticed you have this listed as a work from home job and you said your beginning to use it yourself.

What platform are you using for affiliate marketing?

  2. Hi there,

Work from home is one of the trends today especially for moms like me how needs to take care of small children at the same time. Having across with multiple legit platforms is one of the most important thing in order to earn full time income online. And you mentioned some of the most popular ones in those article. However, i noticed that some of your recommended survey platforms are not open worldwide.

Writing is my favorite. Whether ad freelancing or as a writer of my own website.

I strongly agree that Wealthy Affiliate is the best training platform for anyone who wants to build a profitable online business.

    Best regards,

    Che

  3. working from home is good and desirable. But  the big question is, is it as easy as the name sounds? Quite a number of the online jobs are not genuine and so many of the pay megre cash for a job done. Well like you said, one man’s meat is another poison. Some are extremely good at doing the smallest of online job, surveys, data entry etc and they excel.

In my own opinion, know what works for you and stick to it. Affiliate marketing is one which you can gradually build and expand your niche over time. Permit me to also say that affiliate marketing might not be a get rich quick king of venture.

    1. Sooooooo many scammers and scams out there, too many and it makes it harder for the legitimate honest platforms to become recognized. Yes, work from home is much easier to say than to do. My grandfather used to tell me that anything worth having is worth working for, I apply that to this as well. It may not be “easy”, but it sure is worth it.

  4. I have tried surveys in the past and I hated it. They have you answer a bunch of questions and then say sorry you don’t qualify with no commission. One survey on swagbucks asked a bunch of questions, took 15 min, and then said don’t qualify – that is when I quit trying surveys. I hadn’t considered data entry, but it could be a good fit for me – for now I am working on my own Christianity blog using Wealthy Affiliate – waiting for descent traffic as I add content every week.

    1. I hear ya about the surveys, same thing here. Wealthy Affiliate is a great way to learn how to generate organic traffic online and in turn begin to make a passive income stream as well. Thank you for your input and blessings on your venture.

  5. I’ve tried surveys before and agree with you – I can see how it’s possible to make money with them, but it takes a lot more time than a lot of people are willing or able to commit to. To me it’s more of a very small supplemental income, whereas options like affiliate marketing you can make a significant amount of money doing. Affiliate marketing is also a lot of work though and has some upfront investment. Nice list, thanks for writing.

    1. Thanks Marie, it is hard to make decent money with surveys and that is why I recommend a learning platform that trains people to generate traffic through blogging and build a trusted customer site where they can promote the service and or products of their choosing. For anyone who wants to know more about my number one recommendation just click this link: http://free-4life.com/create

  6. My earliest venture with make money from home is survey sites. I’ve tried a few, but always got rejected at the end for reasons that I don’t understand why. Back then, I was just a student and had plenty of time to dwell in this type of tasks, but now, I am looking for something sustainable and creating an affiliate business seems to offer more benefits. When I am able to master the skills in online marketing, I hope to get involved with eCommerce someday.

    1. It is true that there are plenty of opportunities to make money with online marketing. I point people to a training platform that I recommend and for you or anyone else reading who is seriously interested in learning more and trying it for free, here is the link: http://free-4life.com/create

  7. I have looked at taking surveys in the past, and quickly worked out it was definitely not for me plus I just feel the returns of investment for time are not there. I just can’t see how anyone would make a living from doing surveys all day long.

I also explored voice overs for a while too-I think that could be fun and is something I have in the back of my mind if I get bored of my current direction.

I feel blogging is probably the best option out of all these options if it is done right and you learn about SEO and carve out a little niche for yourself. What do you feel is the best option right now?

    1. I have to agree with you Liz, I believe that blogging is a great way to build a loyal customer following and to promote an honest service and or product. It takes time and effort o do so though and that is why I recommend this training platform: http://free-4life.com/create

  8. Good afternoon.  It is great to see all the options.  Like you said earlier what might be for someone might not be for the next person.  I too am a member of Wealthy Affiliate and it is a great place to get the tools and learn how to use them.  No matter what you do you will have to put a lot of effort in.  Thank you for this great article.  It really is a must read for someone looking to work online.

    1. Thank you for that Dale, we try to be informative and give good advice. It is hard to try to make a living online if you aren’t informed and don’t have the proper training. If you would like to learn how to receive training for free, click this link: http://free-4life.com/create

  9. Hi there

There are many ways to work from home and after reading this, it certainly takes me back to the days of taking surveys and spending endless hours filling them in, just to earn a few pounds! I’ve also done data entry before too but I didn’t last long doing it as that was really mind-numbingly boring!

I’ve tried many ways to work from home and I’ve definitely found affiliate marketing really worth it’s while in trying to escape the rat race. Wealthy Affiliate is the best training platform out there for anyone wanting to become  a successful affiliate marketer. Thanks for the read.

    Teresa

    1. Couldn’t agree more Teresa, Wealthy Affiliate is great and that is why it is my number one recommendation. Thank you for your comments and stop back any time.

  10. I did some freelance data entry work for some time and it worked out but it wasn’t scaleable. Affiliate marketing has unlimited earning potential if you do it right. But if you’re just looking for a side hustle to make a little extra here and there surveys are perfect this is a great list.

    1. Then you were more fortunate than I was when I looked for surveys. I found so many that i would answer questions for two or three minutes, sometimes longer, and then it would tell me that I didn’t qualify for the survey. So I got nothing for my time on those, and there were a lot of them like that. I know that sometimes people can make some money for doing surveys, but it seems rare.

You are correct about online marketing though, you can scale it and make more money. I can’t say the sky is the limit, but it is up there. I always recommend Wealthy Affiliate to people who seem to be serious about wanting to learn how to make money online.

  11. I see surveys recommended again and again, but I feel like they’re a huge time suck with little reward. I feel guilty ignoring my children all day to earn pennies. Do you know anyone personally that feels it’s worth it? I suppose if you’re desperate you’ll do anything, but selling a few things on facebook market place will earn you 10x to 100x the amount, declutter your house for you, and take significantly less time. What do you think?

    1. You are so right on that Holly, we use marketplace for that very purpose and make some decent money on stuff that we are actually just thankful to be rid of. I have never really met anyone that felt that surveys were a big reward or really worth the time.

That is why I refer people to Wealthy Affiliate if they are serious about learning to earn money online.

  12. My dream is to be able to work from home but after falling for many, many scams online I am always a bit sceptical when I hear about places online that claim to be able to help me out with that part in my life. To be honest, out of all the online jobs you mention here I think I could only be able to do one of them, and that’s by earning money doing online surveys.

Do you think I could quit my job if I were to sign up to do surveys online? Could I earn enough to look after my wife and 4 children just by doing surveys?

    1. I would not personally rely on surveys, or at least not surveys only, to support me and my family.

I believe that with all the brick and mortar stores closing and downsizing, more and more people are using the internet to order the things they want and need. So, it only goes to figure that online businesses will continue to thrive and flourish. I recommend to anyone I think is serious about making money online to go to Wealthy Affiliate to learn how. You will find the tools you need to succeed and become a part of a top notch community as well.

  13. Almost all of the survey sites you listed, I used to be signed up to, well actually it was around 100 sites, probably around 20 to 30 were the best paying. I did them over 3 years and I managed to earn on the 3rd year around £3200, which was great and I earned a lot of amazon vouchers. After being on a few of the sites for some time, I got into these online community groups that last for a certain time. They pay very well and are run on behalf of other companies like an energy drink brand and you complete tasks away from just surveys, reviewing ideas on new products. I did surveys on adverts that had not came out on tv yet and political surveys.

It does depend on what you qualify for, but the amount of time I put in, didn’t match what I earned. It did get boring after a while completing surveys and spent a lot of time on them. Don’t get me wrong though you can make a difference in answering surveys like on new products coming out and paid surveys are fine to do, to add a little extra income.

I earn a little through being a website tester and being on a website that pays for the little tasks that you do, like evaluating voices. I feel it is better to spend the time on building up your own website in affiliate marketing to earn a better online income. Wealthy affiliate is a great place to learn.

    1. That is the most positive review on surveys I have heard yet. I tried them, my wife has tried them, I know others who have given them a shot, but all have failed to generate any real kind of income from them. I know that learning to do online marketing is a sure way to secure and generate a passive stream of income. I recommend Wealthy Affiliate to anyone that I know is serious about making money online.

  14. I have try many surveys pages and apps that promises you to make a quick buck, but those thing are not worth anyone’s time. You CAN make money from survey pages and apps. However it takes a lot of time, effort and what you earn is a miserable amout of money. I think that the best way to make money online is by affiliate marketing.

Affiliate Marketing takes time, hard work, but it’s worth all of that

    1. I have to agree with you Fredery, surveys are very time consuming. Learning to build an online presence and establish a passive income stream is the best way to go.  That is why I recommend Wealthy Affiliate to anyone who is even mildly interested in it.

  15. Good write up.

The work from home idea is gaining popularity  day by day and lots of people are ditching their 9-5 for something else that would afford them the time and space to enjoy their lives doing what they love to do best and also profit from it.

The work from home options you listed are impressive , but experience have shown that not all of them works, I would recommend blogging/Affiliate marketing drop shipping or domainning.

    1. Yes Zuchii, the other ways to try to make some form of income from the internet are lacking in different areas. Blogging and making posts in certain niches is the best and most effect budget friendly way to go. Wealthy Affiliate is the best place to begin that journey.
